Separate source, layout, and export
A photo is the source content; a picture frame is part of its composition; the export is the deliverable. Keep those roles distinct. An editable template might combine a photograph, a vector border, a title, and a logo before rendering one finished image. Preserving the original parts makes a later wording or crop change easier than rebuilding a flattened preview.
A Pixel Frame API usually implies direct work on pixels or image buffers. That may include resizing, compositing, color conversion, or preparing an image for another process. It does not specify a particular network protocol. Describe the transformation and its expected output before deciding whether a local image library or remote service suits the project.
A PNG Frame API is useful terminology for workflows that need a lossless raster output or an alpha channel. The W3C PNG specification defines those image-format foundations. Conventional JPEG delivery suits many photographic previews when some compression loss is acceptable. A JPEG Frame API should make that quality choice clear rather than suggesting that every quality setting preserves the same detail.
An SVG Frame API can work with scalable borders and graphic templates. The W3C SVG specification describes vector graphics and mixed vector/raster content. An embedded photograph remains a raster image, so enclosing it in SVG does not create missing detail. Confirm font handling, supported features, and how the template becomes a final raster export.
Make composition testable
- Choose whether the image fits inside a canvas or fills it through cropping.
- Reserve safe space for text and important subjects.
- Define the background when an export removes transparency.
- Inspect borders and text at the smallest intended display size.
Approve a representative set that includes a portrait, a landscape, a transparent overlay, and a text-heavy layout. Review the actual exported files, because a browser preview and a separate rendering engine can differ. Keep the source identity and template settings with each output so the composition can be reproduced.
Start here
Use the PNG, JPEG, and SVG comparison to choose formats, then explore picture and photo frame composition for layout decisions. For images taken from a recording, begin with video frame extraction so the source selection is reliable before styling begins.
